The classic tale of Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley and published anonymously in 1818, saw her christened the mother of science fiction. Victor Frankenstein, in pursuit of a dream, creates for himself a nightmare. Most people are familiar with one version or another of various film adaptations, from Boris Karloff in 1931 to the more recent Jacob Elordi and Christian Bale interpretations. Theatre Workshop Coulsdon is currently adapting the original book into a strikingly new and unique stage version, to be directed by Mike and Alfie Brown in, it is hoped, Spring 2027. Look out for more developments soon.
